The 2008 International AIDS Conference provides AIDS professionals and leaders with the opportunity to debate ideas, share best practices and discuss lessons learned under the theme "Universal Action Now". More than 25,000 participants and 3,000 international media representatives are expected to attend the conference, which will run from 3 - 8 August in Mexico City. During the conference, the Global Fund will have a booth at the Exhibition Hall (Level two, 320, Area D) and will host several satellite sessions at the Global Village. In addition, the Global Fund will lead a skills-building workshop on Effective Partnerships with Faith-based Organizations. A schedule of events can be found at: http://www.aids2008.org Access to Life "accesstolife" is a major advocacy project that highlights the benefits of AIDS treatment and prevention programs. In collaboration with the renowned photo agency Magnum, this project portrays 34 people from nine countries around the world before and four months after they began antiretroviral treatment for AIDS. The Access to Life exhibition was launched in June 2008 in Washington, D.C. An exhibition of Access to Life photographs will be on display during the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, with an opening presentation scheduled for noon on 4 August in the Visual Art Gallery of the Global Village.
Visit Access to Life on the web. Workshop A workshop has been organized for the 2008 Ecumenical Pre-Conference (July 31-Aug 2). "The Global Fund and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs): improving collaboration and access to resources to fight HIV/AIDS" will be held at the Hotel Gran Melia Mexico on August 2, 12.00-13.30. This workshop will be an opportunity to share lessons learned and to provide key information for FBOs on how to access Global Fund resources. A question-and-answer session will follow the workshop presentation to give participants the opportunity to ask questions about Global Fund processes and to share their own experiences.
