At Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta, 15-year-old Ambiya is close to completing her two-year treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Treatment for drug-resistant TB is notoriously hard to take, but thanks to her mother’s dedicated support, Ambiya can now catch up with school and spend time with her friends again. Global Fund financing made MDR-TB treatment available in Indonesia as of 2009.
